LD900

An Act to Protect State Retiree Pensions from Inflation

Failed·4/29/26
Tpdf Text

Maine LD900 would protect state retiree pensions from inflation by increasing benefits based on the Consumer Price Index.

Maine LD900 would require the Board of Trustees of the Maine Public Employees Retirement System to automatically increase retirement benefits based on the Consumer Price Index. For fiscal year 2026-27, the increase would be up to 4%, applying to the first $40,000 of the retirement benefit. Starting in fiscal year 2028-29, the increase would be up to 5%, applying to the first $50,000 of the retirement benefit. This automatic adjustment aims to protect state retirees from inflation.
