LD899

Maine LD899 strengthens medical payments coverage by requiring written agreements and ensuring insurers only pay providers after health insurers have.

Maine LD899 amends state law to enhance the requirements for medical payments coverage. It mandates that any assignment of medical payments coverage must be in writing. Additionally, it prohibits insurers from making direct payments to health care providers unless they receive a bill showing that the health insurer has already paid the provider and identifies the patient's cost-sharing responsibility, such as copayments, deductibles, or coinsurance.
