Maine LD882 protects communications with critical incident stress management and peer support providers from being disclosed in legal proceedings.

Maine LD882 amends the confidentiality of health care information laws to include critical incident stress management peer support within the definition of "health care." It also designates communications with providers of such support as privileged, meaning they cannot be required to testify in legal proceedings without the consent of the person served, except when necessary for the administration of justice. Additionally, providers of critical incident stress management peer support are designated as mandatory reporters of suspected child abuse or neglect or suspicious child deaths.
