LD868

Requires schools to designate athletic teams and facilities by sex and restricts participation and access.

This bill mandates that athletic teams and sports at public and private schools be designated as male, female, or coed. It prohibits male students from participating in female teams and restricts access to restrooms, changing rooms, and sleeping quarters to individuals of the same sex, with limited exceptions. Schools must provide separate facilities for each sex and allow students to choose single-sex housing. The bill also establishes a private right of action for individuals who suffer harm or are denied opportunities due to violations of these provisions.
