Updates Maine education laws regarding audits, homeless student definitions, and community school districts.
This bill updates Maine's education laws by clarifying that audits of education service centers under the fiscal authority of a school administrative unit may be included in the unit's financial audit. It mandates that a school administrative unit's initial report to the Commissioner of Education be part of the unit's official audit. It repeals the School Finance Act of 2003, aligning with the Essential Programs and Services Funding Act.
