This bill allows elver fishing license holders to let others empty their fyke nets.

This bill amends the law governing elver fishing in Maine. It allows the license holder to whom a tag is issued to permit an individual who also holds an elver fishing license to empty the elver fyke net. The license holder is directly supervising the activity. The bill also allows the license holder to transport and sell elvers within state limits. The holder of an elver fishing license with crew is liable for the activities of an unlicensed crew member assisting that license holder. The bill takes effect immediately to be in place before the next elver fishing season in March 2025.
