Maine LD776 would provide free school lunches to special purpose private schools serving at least 60% publicly funded students.
Maine LD776 amends the state's school food service program to offer free school lunches to special purpose private schools that enroll at least 60% publicly funded students. The state would cover the difference between federal reimbursement for a free lunch and the full price of the lunch for students ineligible for free or reduced-price meals. This change applies to schools participating in the National School Lunch Program.
