The bill establishes the Office of the Inspector General to investigate cases of death, serious injury and abuse or neglect of children in state custody or receiving child welfare or juvenile justice services. The inspector general shall conduct investigations independent of and separate from any other investigation. The office shall investigate allegations of misconduct, misfeasance, malfeasance or violations of statutes, rules or written protocols by various entities including the department, employees of the Long Creek Youth Development Center, a detention facility or a temporary holding.
