This bill allows the Maine Department of Health and Human Services to issue subpoenas for investigations of suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation.

The bill grants the Commissioner of Health and Human Services, the commissioner's delegate, or the department's legal counsel the authority to issue subpoenas for information and records relevant to investigations of suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, or licensure violations. This includes confidential health care information. The department can apply to the District Court to enforce a subpoena, and individuals complying with a subpoena are immune from civil or criminal liability for providing the information.
