LD677

Maine LD677 updates the definition of "machine gun" and prohibits possession of rapid-fire devices.

Maine LD677 revises the statutory definition of "machine gun" and introduces a prohibition on the possession of rapid-fire devices. The bill specifies that a machine gun includes any weapon capable of discharging multiple projectiles with a single manual or mechanical action on the trigger. It also defines a rapid-fire device as a part or combination of parts that increases the rate of fire of a semi-automatic firearm. Possession of such devices without authority is classified as a Class D crime.
