LD601

Bill removes state-imposed referendum requirements for nuclear power plants, waste disposal facilities, and waste disposal agreements.

This bill eliminates the need for voter approval through referenda for constructing nuclear power plants, low-level radioactive waste disposal or storage facilities, and entering into compacts or agreements for low-level radioactive waste disposal or storage. It amends existing laws to reflect these changes, ensuring that only legislative acts are required for such agreements, except for specific cases involving the Southeast Compact Commission.
