Maine LD600 mandates automatic recounts in elections where a tie vote occurs.
Maine LD600 amends state law to require the Secretary of State to automatically initiate a recount when an apparent tie vote is detected in an election. If a recount confirms the tie, the bill outlines procedures for a run-off election. It applies to elections for town officials and municipal referenda, ensuring a fair resolution when no clear winner emerges.
