LD598

Maine LD598 mandates minimum pay for employees reporting to work when employers cancel or reduce scheduled hours.

Maine LD598 requires employers to pay employees the lesser of two hours at their regular hourly rate or the total pay for the initially scheduled shift if the employer cancels or reduces the number of hours. Employers must pay employees if they fail to notify them not to report to work in good faith. The bill applies to employers with at least one employee for more than 120 days a year, excluding public employers and seasonal employees. Exceptions include adverse weather, natural disasters, civil emergencies, employee illness, or workplace injury.
