LD584

Maine LD584 changes the appointment process for the Director of the Office of Cannabis Policy to require confirmation by the Legislature.

Maine LD584 amends the appointment process for the Director of the Office of Cannabis Policy within the Department of Administrative and Financial Services. The bill specifies that the Governor must appoint the Director, subject to review by the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over cannabis matters and confirmation by the Legislature. The Director may employ personnel necessary to implement, administer, and enforce cannabis-related laws and rules. This change in the appointment process aims to ensure legislative oversight in the selection of the Director.
