LD552

Establishes an outfitter license for non-guide hunting, fishing, and recreation business owners in Maine.

This bill creates an outfitter license for individuals who own or operate hunting, fishing, or recreation businesses but are not registered as Maine guides. It mandates a background check for applicants, including fingerprinting and criminal history checks from both state and federal sources. The bill also sets a $135 fee for the outfitter license and outlines procedures for fingerprint removal and confidentiality of background check information. The Department of Public Safety is tasked with implementing these provisions.
