This bill repeals the paid family and medical leave benefits program in Maine, effective retroactively to October 25, 2023. It mandates the Department of Labor to refund contributions made by employers and self-employed individuals. The State Controller must transfer unappropriated funds from the Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance Fund to the General Fund by June 30, 2025. Employers who deducted premiums from employee wages must return those amounts to the employees.
