Increases the weight for economically disadvantaged students in Maine's school funding formula from 0.15 to 0.25 starting in fiscal year 2026-27.
This bill amends the school funding formula in Maine to increase the weight for economically disadvantaged students from 0.15 to 0.25 starting in fiscal year 2026-27. The number of economically disadvantaged students is determined by multiplying the number of resident pupils by the most recent available elementary free or reduced-price meals percentage. This change aims to fairly fund school administrative units for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
