LD489

Maine LD489 allows commercial halibut fishing license holders to use a different vessel if their primary one becomes inoperable.

Maine LD489 provides an exception for commercial halibut fishing license holders whose vessels become temporarily inoperable due to accidents or mechanical failures. License holders can request authorization from the Commissioner of Marine Resources to use another vessel. This authorization allows them to fish for, take, possess, ship, or transport halibut, but they must ensure that any halibut taken under another license does not exceed harvest limits.
