LD479

Maine LD479 seeks to expand the state's recycling efforts by evaluating the inclusion of additional container sizes and types in the Beverage.

Maine LD479 mandates the Department of Environmental Protection to evaluate and recommend the inclusion of additional container sizes and types, including clear glass containers that contain non-beverage consumer products, within the Beverage Container Redemption Program. The evaluation must be included in the annual report due February 15, 2026, and each subsequent report. The report will also assess the status of the program and provide recommendations for necessary adjustments to the handling fee.
