This bill creates the Resident Technology Fund within the Department of Corrections to offset the costs of buying and maintaining technology for residents of correctional facilities. The fund will receive fees established by the commissioner for the use of technology, such as computers and external storage devices, provided for educational or vocational purposes, remote work, or other uses. The commissioner may not charge fees for technology used in criminal or civil case research or for indigent residents unless the fee is waived.
