LD412

Maine LD412 prohibits the sale of self-administered sexual assault forensic evidence collection kits.

Maine LD412 enacts a prohibition on the sale or provision of self-administered sexual assault forensic evidence collection kits. The bill defines a "covered evidence kit" as a self-administered kit used to collect evidence related to an alleged sexual assault. It prohibits any person from selling, offering for sale, or providing these kits to individuals. Notably, the bill does not affect the admissibility of such kits as evidence in court proceedings. Violations of this prohibition are considered violations of the Maine Unfair Trade Practices Act.
