LD39

Maine LD39 mandates reporting of forest carbon projects and credits by landowners and developers.

Maine LD39 requires forest landowners or forest carbon project developers to report the registration or sale of forest carbon credits to the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry. Reports must include details such as the project name, landowner names, registration dates, and acreage. A fee of $200 applies for projects over 1,000 acres. The bill also mandates updated reports when credits are sold, retired, cancelled, lost, or reversed, and requires a permanent record of these registrations and sales.
