Maine LD313 mandates unique identifiers on ballots to enhance voter confidence in electronic ballot counting.
Maine LD313 amends state law to require each ballot to include a unique identifier, except for sample ballots. Voting devices must record these identifiers and the votes cast. After elections, clerks must publicly post a list of votes organized by these identifiers on the municipality's website, excluding paper ballots counted by other methods. This measure aims to improve transparency and voter confidence in electronic ballot counting.
