LD31

An Act Regarding School Enrollment for Military-connected Students

Complete·5/14/25

Maine LD31 allows military-connected students to continue their education in their current school under certain conditions.

Maine LD31 provides provisions for military-connected students to maintain their current school enrollment. If a student's parent is currently serving in the military, the student can continue in their current school. For students in kindergarten to grade 8 whose parent is not serving, they can remain in their current school for the school year. Students in grades 9 to 12 can stay in their current school through graduation. The bill also allows superintendents to approve transfers between school administrative units if it is in the student's best interest and the parent approves.
