This bill mandates that 15% of fines for motor vehicle law violations be remitted to the municipality where the violation occurred.

This bill amends the Maine Revised Statutes to require that 15% of fines collected for violations of motor vehicle laws be remitted to the municipality where the violation occurred, provided the fine resulted from a summons issued by a municipal law enforcement agency. The remaining fines are distributed to the General Fund, the Law Enforcement Agency Reimbursement Fund, and the General Highway Fund.
