LD282

Raises the cap on the number of public charter schools in Maine.

This bill amends the Maine Revised Statutes to increase the cap on the number of public charter schools allowed in the state. When the current cap is reached, the commissioner is prohibited from accepting further registrations from the commission or from local school boards and collaboratives of local school boards. Instead, the cap increases by one, allowing more public charter schools to operate.
