An Act to Extend the Period of Time a Dentist May Operate the Practice of a Deceased or Incapacitated Dentist

Complete·5/27/25

Extends the period a legal guardian or personal representative may operate a deceased or incapacitated dentist's practice.

This bill extends the period a legal guardian or personal representative of a deceased or incapacitated dentist may contract with another dentist to continue the operations of the practice. The extension allows for up to months of continued operations after the death or incapacitation of the dentist, or until the practice is sold, whichever occurs first. This change aims to address Maine's shortage of dentists by providing additional time for dental practices to be sold.
