Maine LD2168 mandates a $500 assessment for individuals convicted of engaging a person for prostitution, sex trafficking, aggravated sex trafficking, soliciting a child for commercial sexual exploitation, or commercial sexual exploitation of a minor or person with a mental disability. This assessment, in addition to any other fines or assessments, is intended to support victims and survivors of these crimes. The court may waive all or part of the assessment for repeat offenders, up to $1,000.
