LD214

Maine LD214 establishes a for-hire charter boat operator's license and mandates halibut fishing registration.

Maine LD214 introduces a for-hire charter boat operator's license, requiring individuals to obtain it before engaging in recreational fishing activities with paying passengers in coastal waters. The license fee is $25 for residents and $50 for nonresidents, with all fees deposited into the Marine Recreation Fishing Conservation and Management Fund. Additionally, the bill mandates that individuals fishing for halibut in coastal waters must register and obtain recreational halibut tags, eliminating previous exceptions.
