Resolve, to Improve Dental Care Access by Modifying the MaineCare Reimbursement Methodology for the Provision of Certain Dental Services

Complete·4/13/26

Improves dental care access by modifying MaineCare reimbursement for anesthesia services at ambulatory surgical centers.

This bill modifies MaineCare reimbursement for anesthesia services provided at ambulatory surgical centers. It requires supplemental payments for medically necessary deep sedation or general anesthesia for dental services provided to children. The bill sets a minimum reimbursement rate of $250 for every 15-minute increment of anesthesia services for children and mandates the use of specific billing codes. It also removes time limits on anesthesia services for children when medically necessary. The Department of Health and Human Services must amend its rules to reflect these changes.
