LD2120

Maine LD2120 enables survivors of abuse to disable connected vehicle services to prevent abusers from accessing them.

Maine LD2120, known as the Safe Vehicle Access for Survivors Act, allows survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, and sex trafficking to request that motor vehicle manufacturers or their affiliates terminate or disable an abuser's access to connected vehicle services. These services enable remote data access or command sending to a vehicle. The bill defines "connected vehicle service" and "covered act," and mandates that providers take specific actions upon receiving a request from a survivor.
