The Suicide Mortality Review Panel is established to review deaths by suicide in Maine. The panel reviews records of confirmed or suspected suicides and undetermined deaths where suicide cannot be ruled out. The panel consists of multidisciplinary members including health care providers, public health officials, and others. The panel coordinator conducts preliminary reviews and may interview next of kin. The panel reviews cases referred by the coordinator and submits annual reports to the Governor, commissioner, and relevant legislative committee.
