The bill updates Maine law to require fuel gas detectors in specific occupancy types. It mandates detectors in multifamily buildings starting January 1, 2027, and in day care, educational, health care, ambulatory health care, residential board and care, and detention and correctional occupancies starting January 1, 2028. The law also requires detectors in business, mercantile, and assembly occupancies starting January 1, 2026, and in lodging or rooming houses, hotels, dormitories, and motels.
