An Act to Add an Online Option for Reporting of Suspected Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of Adults

Complete·2/24/26

Adds an online option for reporting suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation of adults in Maine.

This bill amends the Maine Revised Statutes to allow for reports of suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation of adults to be made by an online portal in addition to the current telephone requirement. The online portal must be designated by the Department of Health and Human Services. Reports must still be made immediately by telephone and followed by a written report if requested. The bill aligns state law with federal regulations that require at least one online method of reporting.
