An Act to Update the Campaign Finance Laws

Complete·3/25/26

Updates Maine campaign finance laws to increase reporting thresholds and deadlines.

This bill updates Maine campaign finance laws by raising the thresholds for financial transactions that require 24-hour reports during the last days before an election. It extends the deadline for these reports to be due within 24 hours of the contribution or expenditure. Additionally, it increases the threshold amount that requires an independent expenditure report from spending in excess of $250 to $1,000 per candidate.
