LD1944

Maine LD1944 strengthens laws against the unauthorized dissemination and possession of child sexual abuse material, including images created using AI.

LD1944 amends Maine's criminal code to protect individuals from the unauthorized dissemination of private images, particularly those involving children. The bill defines "child sexual abuse material" and "identifiable child" and specifies penalties for offenses involving such material. It prohibits the dissemination, possession, and creation of images depicting minors in sexually explicit conduct, including those generated using generative AI or machine learning. The bill also expands the crime of sexual exploitation of a minor to include the modification or creation of such images.
