Maine LD1867 prohibits financial institutions from using merchant category codes to identify or track firearm purchases and from disclosing firearm purchase records. The bill defines "firearm" and "firearm accessory or component" and specifies that "protected financial information" refers to records of firearm-related transactions. Financial institutions are barred from requiring the use of firearms codes, discriminating against firearms dealers, or disclosing such information. The Attorney General can investigate violations, seek injunctions, and impose penalties up to $10,000.
