LD1861

Maine LD1861 mandates training on textured hair for aestheticians, barber hair stylists, cosmetologists, and hair designers.

Maine LD1861 requires the Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation to adopt rules mandating educational programs for aestheticians, barber hair stylists, cosmetologists, and hair designers to include training on textured hair. This includes techniques for cutting, styling, and chemical treatments, use of specific products and tools, best practices for hair health and scalp care, and the cultural and historical significance of textured hair. The training aims to ensure professionals are equipped to handle and respect diverse hair types.
