This bill amends the law governing notification to vehicle owners when a vehicle is towed or left on residential or business property. It requires the owner of the premises where the vehicle is located to notify the vehicle owner and lienholder, if any, within hours of taking the vehicle into custody. The notification must be in writing and on a form provided by the Secretary of State. It also requires the owner of the premises to report to the Secretary of State within days of taking the vehicle into custody. Failure to comply with this section constitutes an unfair trade practice.
