Limits publicly owned land in Maine to no more than 50% of any county's land area.

This bill restricts publicly owned land in Maine to no more than 50% of the land area in any county. Publicly owned land includes property rights held by the Federal Government, the State, a county, or a municipality. The State, a county, or a municipality may exceed this limit with the approval of two-thirds of each House of the Legislature. The Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry is mandated to report biannually starting April 15, 2026, to the relevant legislative committee on the percentage of publicly owned land statewide and by county.
