This bill amends the Maine Revised Statutes to change the penalty for possession of certain Schedule W drugs. Currently, possession of these drugs is a Class C crime. The bill would make possession of under 2 grams of these drugs a Class D crime. The affected drugs include heroin, cocaine, cocaine base, oxycodone, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, methamphetamine, and fentanyl powder. The change applies when the amount possessed is under 2 grams or more than 200 milligrams.
