Allows firefighters to be eligible for state college funding.
This bill amends the funding for the Maine Community College System's free tuition program. It reduces the one-time funding provided in Public Law 2025, chapter 2, Part J, section 1, by $800,000 in fiscal year 2025-26. The bill appropriates $800,000 on a one-time basis to the Maine Fire Service Institute, making firefighters eligible for state college funding. This change affects the allocation of funds from the General Fund to the MCCS Free Community College - Two Enrollment Years program.
