LD1723

Maine LD1723 limits rent and fee increases in manufactured housing communities to prevent excessive hikes.

Maine LD1723 amends the laws governing manufactured housing communities to prevent excessive rent and fees increases. The bill sets a base rent amount for lots in these communities and limits increases to 10% over a four-year period. It also requires owners to notify residents of any increases. The bill allows for exemptions to these limits under certain conditions, such as increased property taxes or utility costs. The Manufactured Housing Board, which oversees these communities, is expanded to include more members with relevant expertise.
