This bill amends Maine law to clarify the use of force by corrections officers and transport officers in the custody of prisoners.

This bill amends Maine law to clarify the use of force by corrections officers and transport officers in the custody of prisoners. It allows the use of deadly force to prevent an escape when the officer reasonably believes the person has committed a crime involving the use or threatened use of deadly force. It also extends the prohibitions on using deadly force and laser pointers against law enforcement officers to transport officers, corrections officers, and corrections supervisors.
