LD1707

Maine LD1707 mandates U.S. citizenship for state and local financial assistance, excluding education funding.

Maine LD1707 establishes that only U.S. citizens can receive financial assistance from the state or municipalities, with an exception for general purpose aid for local schools. The bill also stipulates that municipalities cannot provide financial assistance to non-citizens. Additionally, municipalities that prohibit the exchange of information with federal immigration authorities or restrict local law enforcement from gathering information on citizenship or immigration status are ineligible for state-municipal revenue sharing.
