LD1684

Maine LD1684 amends criteria for supervised community confinement programs, adding victim safety considerations.

Maine LD1684 modifies the criteria and processes for supervised community confinement programs, requiring additional safety checks for inmates. The bill mandates that the jail administrator review the inmate's criminal history and any domestic violence risk assessments before approving their transfer to a community confinement monitoring program. It also requires notifying the victim of the crime, unless they have opted out, and obtaining their consent. The sheriff must review the decision before final approval.
