Maine LD1668 modifies the voting requirement for extending the date for adjournment of the Legislature. It removes the need for a two-thirds majority vote in both the Senate and House to extend the length of a regular session beyond the statutory adjournment date. Instead, it requires a simple majority vote of the members present and voting in both chambers to extend the date for adjournment for the first or second regular session by up to legislative days. In case of further emergency, a two-thirds majority vote can further extend the date for adjournment by additional legislative days.
