LD1642

Maine LD1642 simplifies subscription and health club membership cancellations by requiring clear disclosure and consent.

Maine LD1642 amends the law to simplify subscription and health club membership cancellations. It requires sellers to obtain express consumer consent for automatic subscription renewals and to clearly disclose all material terms of the renewal offer. Sellers must provide for online cancellation using the same method as the initial subscription agreement. The bill also mandates that sellers provide notice of automatic renewals and requires the Attorney General to enforce these provisions. These changes apply to offers or agreements entered into or renewed on or after January 1, 2026.
