Complete·5/27/25

Maine LD1616 removes the requirement for individuals to surrender their physical driver's licenses during a temporary suspension.

Maine LD1616 amends state law to eliminate the requirement for individuals with temporarily suspended driver's licenses to surrender their physical licenses. Previously, individuals were required to surrender their licenses to the court during a suspension period. The bill also removes provisions that established crimes and incarceration as part of certain juvenile dispositions. The Secretary of State is still required to take actions to confiscate suspended licenses.
