LD156

Maine LD156 updates notification procedures for infants affected by parental substance use.

Maine LD156 amends the law to enhance notification processes for infants affected by their parents' substance use. Health care providers must notify the Department of Health and Human Services of infants potentially affected by substance use or withdrawal symptoms from prenatal drug exposure or those with a fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. The department is tasked with investigating these notifications, determining if the infant is abused or neglected, and developing a safe care plan.
